Oracle Manufacturing Execution Systems(MES) Overview
MES is a new addition to oracle discrete manufacturing family in R12. MES enhances the basic WIP functionality with additional MES supervisor workbench and MES workstation feature.
Oracle MES for Discrete Manufacturing Have two parts:
MES Workstation: For shop floor OperatorMES Supervisor Workbench: For shop floor Supervisor
The MES Workstation for the operator provides a single interface to perform multiple shop floor functions, without navigating to a number of transaction windows.
Shop floor operators can view the jobs assigned to specific work centers, view requirements and instructions for performing work. The Manufacturing Execution System can be
configured for actions, display, security, and transactions for the operator and supervisor roles.
MES Workstation:
- Single interface for multiple job operations
- Clock in and Clock out feature to capture time spent on work order
- View the dispatch list
- Report exceptions
- Move and return of assemblies
- Department supervisor can get dashboard with current operations status
- Monitor the operations progress
- Identify bottleneck operations and assign alternate resources
- Reschedule operations based on resource availability and criticality
- Change the shop floor status
- Allocate jobs to resources and expedite
