The Allepo city locates in the north of Syria, it is a very old city, maybe from 3000 year ago. While it was said that there were lots of street still in using today from thousands year ago. As I found in the city, most of biulding were made of stones, somebody told me the stones near Allepo was the best stone all over Syria.I went Allepo city for three times, in the end of Oct., the begining of Nov. and the middle Dec., 2003. It was cold for the later two times, I was alone the last time.

The Allepo city is a inland city, but the trading and commercial are very active. You could find lots of shops in the city center area, at night the owners are always very busy. The Allepo city is the busiest and quickest city in Syria, when you dirve a little bit slowly on the road,just like the delaying of starting car when the red traffic lights are disapeared, you will soon hear the beep sound from the cars behind of you, this does not happen in any another city in Syria. The roads in Allepo are more regular, the biuldings are higher and newer. I worked in an area named Shahaba, the word Shahaba in Arabic language means white, gray or new.

There is a very big and old Castle in the center of the Allepo City, I think it is the old city center and where the city originaled from. We tried to visit it the second time I went this city, but it was closed in afternoon in Ramadan Festival. The third time I went there, I was nearly for me to leave from Syria, that's the last chance for me to visit that Castle. I finished my works in the first day, and slept in a hotel, PULLMAN hotel, very early, and got up too early the second moring. I reached the Castle before 9 O'Clock, when it was till colsed, this time it it was closed becuase I was too early not too late, nor closed for holidays.

It was very cold, cause I reached Allepo in a cold rainny day, from Homs to Allepo, the distance is about 200Kms, it was rainny and dark all the way that day. Actually, I like such a kind of cold weather, you could not see more cars on the way, you could hear the thunder, and the sound created by wheels when it runs over the water on the road.

Despite of the cold weather, I stopped my car and walked to a park near to the castle, it was said the park was constructed by the French occupiers. There were just few people in the park, I walked along in the park, it was so silent and cold, my fingers holding the camera became freezing. As I knew later, it was snow in some area around Allepo last nigth, I could not love snow more, and the slient and calm brings by the snow and only by snow.
