creation for FND_FILE failed
symptom: ORA-06512:at 'APPS.FND_FILE', line 419
change: NOTE ROLE:
Additional errors received:
File could not be opened or operated on as requested.
Action: Make sure this directory is a valid directory with write permissions
on the database server node and is listed under utl_file_dir parameter
initialization file (init.ora) for the database you are working with
(TEMP_DIR=/usr/temp).
cause: File directories are not set up correctly. The directory
corresponding to $APPLPTMP was not part of the utl_file_dir parameter in the
init.ora file for the database. Also, user 'oracle' should have 'write'
permissions to the $APPLPTMP directory.
fix:
Ensure the APPLPTMP is referenced by UTL_FILE_DIR. When using multiple
instances, a unique APPLTMP directory is needed for each instance environment
used.
1. Make sure the directory UTL_FILE_DIR is defined in the init.ora file $
ORACLE_HOME/dbs.
2. Make sure the SAME directory is defined for $APPLPTMP in your environment
file $APPL_TOP/XXX.envi. For example:
a. Do a .env to see the environment variables for the instance.
For APPLPTMP, it might look like APPLPTMP = /usr/tmp
b. Make sure there is a corresponding entry in the init.ora file
under the utl_file_dir. This does not mean it is the only directory
listed, but it does need to be one of the directories listed.
For example: utl_file_dir = /usr/tmp, /u01/sql/tmp, /u02/sql/tmp
3. Ensure that the user 'oracle' has 'write' permissions in the file system
for this directory.
4. Restart the database.
5. Confirm that the value for the parameter has been picked by the database as
a valid directory by running the following SQL:
select value from V$PARAMETER
where name = 'UTL_FILE_DIR';
This lists all the values specified in the init.ora file for this parameter
