GOAL

How to set MS Excel as concurrent report output format in Concurrent Program Definition Form?

SOLUTION

Please note the workaround below includes customization, so it is not supported by Development.

1. Add one record to Lookup Type 'CP_OUTPUT_FILE_TYPE' :
1.1) Navigation Path : (Responsibility) Application Developer > (Menu) Application > (SubMenu) Lookups > (Function) Application Object Library.
1.2) Query out Type 'CP_OUTPUT_FILE_TYPE'.
1.3) Add the record:
Code: TEST, Meaning: TEST, Description: Test of Excel Output.

Note: Since FND_CONCURRENT_PROGRAMS.OUTPUT_FILE_TYPE is with type of VARCHAR2(4), Meaning length should not be over 4 byte.

Otherwise, error message "ORA-01403: no data found" will come out when saving the record.

Note: If got error message "FRM-41051- You can not create records here." when adding the new record, perform following steps to do the form personalization in order to make the block allow to be edited :
A.) In FORM 'Application Object Library Lookups', click navigation menu 'Help' > 'Diagnostics' > 'Custom Code' > 'Personalize'.
B.) Enter the information below in the Personalization Window :
- Seq: 10
- Description: Allow Edit
- Condition > Trigger Event : WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE, Trigger Object : FND_LOOKUP_VALUES
- Actions > Seq : 10, Type : Property, Object Type : Block, Target Object : FND_LOOKUP_VALUES, Property Name : INSERT_ALLOWED, Value : TRUE.
C.) Save.

1.4) Save.

Note: Sometimes customer would like to define name of the Lookup Code as 'XLS'. Here the name is just a label, no special meaning. So 'TEST' will help fully understand the function of this setup.

2. Match the newly defined concurrent program output file type 'TEST' to Mime Type 'application/vnd.ms-excel' :
2.1) NavigationPath : (Responsibility) System Administrator > (Menu) Install > (Function) Viewer Options.
2.2) Add a record:
File Format : TEST, Mime Type : application/vnd.ms-excel, Description : Test Excel Format.
2.3) Save.

3. Check whether Output Format Type 'TEST' is added to concurrent program definition form :
3.1) Navigation Path : (Responsibility) System Administrator > (Menu) Concurrent > (SubMenu) Program > (Function) Define.
3.2) Make sure there is the newly created option 'TEST' in 'Format' field of 'Output' block.

4. Submit one concurrent report with output format 'TEST', make sure it is opened via MS Excel in Client PC when clicking button 'View Output' in Standard Request Submission Form.
