GOAL
Can we disable OCM installation during a silent install?
How to de-install OCM?
When doing an upgrade from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 in silent mode After the upgrade completes successfully, there will be two new DBMS jobs
1.MGMT_CONFIG_JOB,
2.MGMT_STATS_CONFIG_JOB).
+ Tried setting:
1)b_acceptLicense=false
2)b_useRegistration=false
But the two jobs, as well as the ORACLE_OCM user and it's objects
Still get created.
How can we disable OCM installation ?
SOLUTION
MGMT_CONFIG_JOB - comes with the OCM(Oracle Configuration Manager) installation - This is a configuration collection job.
Please check the Document 369111.5 - 'Oracle Configuration Manager Release 10.3 FAQ
The job is created by the script ocmjb10.sql by running procedure
'ORACLE_OCM.MGMT_CONFIG.collect_config'
MGMT_STATS_CONFIG_JOB:- This is an OCM Statistics collection job created in ocmjb10.sql by running
'ORACLE_OCM.MGMT_CONFIG.collect_stats'.
Oracle Configuration Manager is installed during upgrading Oracle Database to 10.2.0.4, but will not be configured and will not run if you do not select "Enable Oracle Configuration Manager" option during the installation process.
OCM is installed in $ORACLE_HOME/ccr directory, so you can remove ccr directory only. The size of this directory will be around 100 Mb.
If you wish, you can remove ocm after installation by running following command
:$rm -rf OCM_INSTALL_ROOT/ccr (On UNIX)
If you want to deinstall OCM,please do following steps
If database collections were done, log into the database with and DBA user (like SYSTEM) and execute:
SQL> @ccr/admin/scripts/dropocm.sql
SQL> @ccr/admin/scripts/dropemrep_collect.sql (if db is a repository)
SQL> @ccr/admin/scripts/ebs_dropccr.sql
* Execute: $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/bin/deployPackages –d $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/inventory/core.jar (on linux, this will stop the scheduler and remove the crontab entry; on windows, it will stop the scheduler and remove the service)
Remove the directory
i. Unix: rm –rf $ORACLE_HOME/ccr
ii. Windows:rmdir %ORACLE_HOME%\ccr
Now, if you want to prevent OCM being installed?
This is For using OPatch in silent mode, in this way,ocm response file MUST be specified.
To specified a response file:
---------------------------
- Go to $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/ocm/bin and run $./emocmrsp script.(for the
question I accept the License Agreement you can choose NO if you do not want
register and configure Oracle Configuration Manager)
After that response (ocm.rsp) file will be created in the same directory.
Now, you can use $./opatch script in silent mode and none interaction from user
side will be required during patch installation.
Example below:
$./opatch apply /path_to_unziped_patch/ -silent -ocmrf $
ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/ocm/bin/ocm.rsp
OCM is a part of OPatch now. If you wish to not register ocm after using
OPatch to apply a patch, then please create a response file and configure it
like mentioned in above update. After that, OCM will not be registered and
configured for collection puprose, and this action will locate ocm binaries in $
ORACLE_HOME/ccr folder for further installation per customer request. Size of
CCR folder is around 100 MB.
You can delete ccr folder after applying patch (manually or create shell script
which will remove ccr folder) IF you wish.
