| First Fixed Assets (FA) Depreciation Period Is Much Earlier Than The Current General Ledger (GL) Period [ID 232846.1] |

Modified 21-MAR-2003 Type PROBLEM Status PUBLISHED |
|
- fact: Oracle Assets
- fact: FAXDPRUN - Run Depreciation
- symptom: Oldest asset has Date Placed In Service (DPIS) of 01-JAN-1976
- symptom: Earliest GL period is 01-JAN-2000
- symptom: First period to be depreciated is JAN-1976, as shown in
Depreciation Run form.
- symptom: Don't want to have to run depreciation for all periods for 24
years to bring depreciation in line with GL calendar
- change: New installation
- cause: Current Period field was set up wrongly using Earliest Date Placed
in Service rather than using the required Current Period.
fix:
This issue is not fixable. There are two courses of action:
1. Create a new Asset Book in which the current period is correctly set, or
2. Run depreciation for approximately 300 periods in the offending book to get
the current depreciation period to equal the current GL period.
