This note concerns itself with highly desirable patches in 11.2.0.2 that are not included in PSU updates. Most of these issues are fixed in 11.2.0.3. The exceptions are noted below.

Purpose
The purpose of this note is to publish some recommended fixes in hopes of avoiding problems associated with performance and wrong results in 11.2.0.2.x.Scope and Application
Its important to note that while we try and include important fixes in the PSUs that are released on a quarterly basis, there are restrictions as to what can go in to a PSU. One of the restrictions is fixes that may change execution plans i.e. optimizer layer fixes. The reason for this is that it reduces the amount of testing required to go from one PSU to another.This note concerns itself with highly desirable patches in 11.2.0.2 that are not included in PSU updates. Most of these issues are fixed in 11.2.0.3. The exceptions are noted below.
Things to Consider before upgrading to 11.2.0.2.x regarding performance/wrong results
Recommended fixes that are not included in PSUs:
Patch:10259620 Wrong results / ORA-7445 with DESC indexes and OR expansion
Patch:13004894 Wrong results with SQL_TRACE / 10046 (not in 11.2.0.3)
Supersedes the previously recommended Patch:9776940 Wrong results with function based indexes / ORA-600 [qkeUnreferenceExpr_2] parsing CONTAINS/SCORE
Patch:11719151 SQL Plan Management capture causes slowness
Creates problems when baselines are in use
Patch:9842771 Wrong SREADTIM and MREADTIM statistics in AUX_STATS$
Can cause poor execution plans for entire database
Patch:10269193 Wrong results with outer join and CASE expression optimization
CASE need not to be present
Patch:10623249 High "Latch Free" Waits when Resource Manager is used
Patch:12624639 Merge patch fixing the following two bugs:
Patch:13004894 Wrong results with SQL_TRACE / 10046 (not in 11.2.0.3)
Supersedes the previously recommended Patch:9776940 Wrong results with function based indexes / ORA-600 [qkeUnreferenceExpr_2] parsing CONTAINS/SCORE
Patch:11719151 SQL Plan Management capture causes slowness
Creates problems when baselines are in use
