If SQL 2005 is slower than 2000 (gethering.....)
- try running profiler for some time during these operations. help identifying the bottleneck(check for locks)...also check the transaction isolation levels u had earlier and now....
- Have you rebuild your indexes and updated your statistics? SQL 2005 might choose a poor plan if you fail to do so since the engine has changed between 2000 and 2005
