Applies to:

Oracle GoldenGate - Version 4.0.0 to 11.2.1.0.1 [Release 4.0.0 to 11.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Tables with nologging option can cause Extract to abend with OGG-1965 and Extract will not restart.
ERROR OGG-01965 The redo record indicates data loss on object

Fix

To turn on Oracle's supplemental logging at the database level, GoldenGate requires this command to be executed in SQLPLUS :

SQL > ALTER DATABASE ADD SUPPLEMENTAL LOG DATA;

This change to add supplemental logging will not take effect until the current redo log is switched, so the following command must also be executed:

SQL > ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE;

Note: You must have the ALTER DATABASE and ALTER SYSTEM privileges to execute the above sql statements.

Alternatvely you can use

ALTER DATABASE ADD SUPPLEMENTAL LOG DATA (PRIMARY KEY, UNIQUE INDEX) COLUMNS;

To turn on supplemental logging at the table level, you can execute this command through GGSCI :

GGSCI> dblogin userid , password
GGSCI> add trandata . <-- for a single table

or

GGSCI > add trandata .* <-- for all tables in a schema. This could take a very long time if you have several hundred tables in the schema.

You can create scripts and execute them in parallel for faster enablement.
