This document is being delivered to you via Oracle Support's Rapid Visibility (RaV) process, and therefore has not been subject to an independent technical review.

Applies to:
Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.1 to 11.1
This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms
Datapump exp hangs when exporting to NFS location

Dumpfile stays constant at 4K.

The job is in a DEFINING state

SQL> select job_name, state from dba_datapump_jobs;

JOB_NAME STATE
------------------------------ ------------------------------
EXPEAID DEFINING

Cause

- Checked for non-default init.ora parameters.

- Checked the minimum privilege requirements.

- The problem reproduces if the mount point is explicitly specified in the oracle directory object

- The problem also reproduces if disk is mounted with:

rw,bg,vers=2,proto=tcp,noac,hard,nointr,timeo=600,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,suid

- Tusc (tracing tool) output :

KUPF: In kupfioCreateFile...
KUPF: In kupfioWriteHeader...

Solution
There are some problem NFS locks on the server.

Running the following on the sever that hosts the NFS mounted drives,

clears them and allows to successfully run the expdp job to the NFS location.

on HP platform.:

clear_locks -S

'man clear_locks' will give extra information for the implementation

of this utility on specific Unix
