Install License Server

1. Install License server. It is recommended that you install it as a service.

2. After installing the license server, place the license file provided in the following directory: C:\Hyperion_Home\Common\LicenseServer\Licenses.

3. Restart the License Server so that it reads the new license file. From the C:\Hyperion_Home\Common\LicenseServer\Tools folder, run lmtools.exe, select the Start/Stop/Reread tab and click Start Server.

Install and Configure Shared Services

1. Install Shared Services.
Note: If you have a previous version installed, you will be prompted to install an upgraded version.

2. Once installed, launch the Configuration Utility (Start > Programs > Hyperion System 9 Foundation > Configuration Utility).

• Select Shared Services, then select Configure Database and Deploy to Application Server.

• Select your database type and specify the database name, username and password (default is admin, password).

• Select the application server and verify that the port is the default 58080. For other settings, use the default settings.

Configure Shared Services External Authentication Provider (optional in a test environment)

1. Ensure that your Shared Services server is up and running.

2. Configure Shared Services to authenticate user names that are stored externally in LDAP, Active Directory or Windows NT LAN Manager (NTLM), enabling single sign on.

Install BI+ Analytics (Analytic Services and AAS)

1. Install and configure Analytic Services 9.3.

2. Install and configure Analytic Administration Services 9.3.

Install and Configure Planning
CAUTION: If you are upgrading from a previous Planning release, back up your Planning properties file (HspJSHome.properties) before installing Planning 9.3. This file is located under your application server folder.

1. Install Planning 9.3.

a) Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the installation program. Select File > Run, enter Drive:\folder\installPlanning.exe and click Next.

b) Review the Welcome screen and click Next.

c) From the list of countries, select the location from which you are installing, and click Next.

d) Read the license agreement, select I AGREE and click Next.

e) Click Next to accept the default installation path for HYPERION_HOME, or click Browse and navigate to another directory, and click Next. The default directory is C:\Hyperion.

f) Click Next to accept the default installation directory, or click Browse to select another directory, and click Next. The default directory is C:\Hyperion\Planning.

g) Select Typical. This installs Planning Web Server and BPM Architect. The components of BPM Architect are App Server (for Dimension server and Data Sync server) and Web Server (for the Java application server). Then click Next.

h) Review the component summary information and click Next to continue the installation, or Back to change settings.

NOTE: The installation program automatically installs .NET framework which is required for BPM Architect. If you already have this on your machine, select Upgrade or Repair.

i) When you receive the message that the installation is complete, click Finish. Then reboot your computer.


2. Make sure the License Server and Shared Services server are up and running.

• License Server should be automatically started if it is installed to start as a service.

• To start Shared Services, select Start > Programs > Hyperion System 9 Foundation > Start Shared Services.
For Oracle: \bin\emctl start iasconsole \pmn\bin\pmnctl startall

3. Configure Planning using the Configuration Utility. (Start > Programs > Hyperion System 9 Foundation > Configuration Utility).

a) From the Welcome screen, click Next.

b) Select the following options and click Next:

Planning

• Activate Product

• Register with Shared Services

• Deploy to Application Server

• Configure Database

On the Product Activation screen, enter Hyperion License Server information and click Next:

• Server: enter the name of the server hosting License Server

• Port: enter the port number for License Server

• For Deployment ID, use the default asterisk (*) to enable the system to search for and use any valid deployment ID.


d) To register Planning with Shared Services, enter the location of Shared Services and click Next:

• Server: Shared Services Server name

• Port: Shared Services Port

• User: Shared Services User name

• Password: Shared Services Password


e) To configure the database, select the database you are using (SQL, Oracle, or DB2) and click Next.

f) Enter the database details:

• Server: enter the name of the server hosting the database

• Port (a default displays for the database port)

• Database for Planning: enter the name of the Planning system database

• User Name for Planning: enter the user name for the Planning system database

• Password for Planning: enter the Planning system database password

• Click Next.


g) To deploy Planning to an application server, select your application server in the Automatic (deployment) column.

Either use the default values for Component, Server Name, and Port or make changes. You can choose to Deploy as a Service. Then click Next.


i) From the completed configuration tasks list, click Next. At the prompt: “Do you want to go back to the Product Selection panel?” select Yes and click Next.
The next configuration task is creating a Planning instance. A Planning instance is a name for a collection of Planning applications on a server. For example, in a single server environment there is only one instance. In a multi-server environment, you might have a test instance or a production instance. The instance then gets registered with Shared Services.
j) From the list of configuration tasks under Planning, select Product Instance Registration, then click Next.


• Select Create Instance

• Enter information about Shared Services: Name of the server hosting Shared Services, Port (default: 58080), User Name (admin) and Password (password) and click Next.


• Instance Name: Enter an instance name.

• Web Server: Enter the full name of the machine where Planning Web application server was installed.

• Cluster: Leave the default cluster or select a cluster from the drop-down list, then click Next.


k) From the completed configuration tasks list, click Next. At the prompt: “Do you want to go back to the Product Selection panel?” select Yes and click Next.
the last configuration task is configuring a datasource. A datasource must be created that links the relational database and the Analytic Server. A datasource must be created each time you create an application and must be associated with an instance.

l) From the list of configuration tasks under Planning, select DataSource Configuration.


• Select Create Datasource

• Shared Services details are displayed. Make changes and then click Next.

• Enter a name for the datasource and a description. Then, click Next.


• From the drop-down list, select the instance you created during Product Instance Registration to associate it with the data source. Then click Next.

• Select a database type (SQL, Oracle or DB2). Then, click Next.

• Enter the database details, then click Next.

o the server hosting the database

o the port (defaults for SQL (1433); Oracle (1521); DB2 (50000)

o name of the product

o database name

o database user name

o database password


m) Enter the Analytic server name, the Analytic Services user name and password. Then click Next.


n) The configuration tasks for Planning are now complete. From the completed configuration tasks list, click Next. At the prompt: “Do you want to go back to the Product Selection panel?”, select Yes and click Next.

Configure BPM Architect

o) On the Product Selection panel, select the following options, then click Next.

BPM Architect

• Register with Shared Services

• Deploy to Application Server

• Configure Database


p) To register with Shared Services, enter the Shared Services server name, port (defaults to 58080), username (admin) and password. Then click Next.

q) To configure the database, select the database you are using (SQL, Oracle, or DB2) and click Next.

NOTE: If you are using a DB2 database for BPM Architect, DB2 .NET Data Provider is required. DB2 .NET Data Provide can be obtained from the IBM Download page: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.dndp.doc/htm/frlrfIBMDataDB2.htm

r) Enter the database details:

• Server: enter the name of the server hosting the database

• Port (a default displays for the database port)

• Database for BPM Architect: enter the name of the BPM Architect database
• User Name: enter the username for the BPM Architect database

• Password: enter the password for the BPM Architect database

• Click Next.


s) To deploy BPM Architect to a Java application server, select your Java application server in the Automatic (deployment) column.
NOTE: For Beta, use the same Java application server for BI+, Planning and BPM Architect.


• Then click Next.

t) Either use the default values for Component, Server Name, and Port or make changes. You can choose to Deploy as a service. Then click Next.

u) Make any necessary changes to the defaults for the BPM Architect Dimension Server. Then click Next.
NOTE: Port refers to IIS.


v) From the completed configuration tasks list, click Next. At the prompt: “Do you want to go back to the Product Selection panel?” select No and click Next.


w) From the message that configuration tasks have been completed, click Finish.
x) If you installed BPM Architect in a distributed environment, you need to edit a file to change the machine name of the Dimension server.

• Edit the AwbCluster.xml file located in your web application server directory. For example, for Tomcat, the file is located in :\Hyperion\BPMA\AppServer\InstalledApps\Tomcat\5.0.28\BPMAWebServer\webapps\awb\WEB-INF\conf

• Change “localhost” to the machine name of the dimension server http://localhost/ads-dimension-server/

• Save the file.

Troubleshooting Tips
If you have difficulty accessing BPM Architect, check the following:

• Make sure Hyperion BPM Architect Process Manager service is running.
Note: If there is a problem starting the service, see the Event Viewer (in the Control Panel) for an error message describing the cause of the problem.

• If the service has started successfully, check IIS (Internet Information Services) for the following settings:
o Select Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services. Make sure the Default Web Site is started (right-click Default Web Site to Start if needed.
o Right-click Default Web Site, select Properties, then click ASP.NET tab. Make sure that the ASP.NET version is 2.0xxx and not 1.xxx.
o If you are using Win2003, make sure the ASP.NET 2.xxx extensions are set to “Allowed” in the Web Service Extensions folder in IIS.
