Recommended Patch for Streams

PURPOSE
-------
Streams can be used for such diverse tasks as data replication,
data warehousing, database migration between hardware platforms,
application upgrade or migration, and queuing applications.
Below, are some of the key recommendations patches of Streams in
various version of Oracle database.

Intended for all those who want to know what are the miniimal patches
that needs to be applied before configuring Streams

9iR2: README from 9.2.0.6 Patchset (3948480)

This is the generic README from the 9.2.0.6 patch set of the Solaris 32 bit
release. Note the reference to Metalink Note 283565.1 Be sure to review
this article BEFORE upgrading your database to 9.2.0.6 or 10.1.
The 9206 patchset does NOT include the Special Patch for OMS, OEM client,
and Streams Wizard. Please be sure to load the patch listed for
OMS and GUI Streams Wizard as well.
Patchset Installation
After any patchset is applied to an existing streams database, be sure to
perform. in each database, the database migration steps for the patchset.
startup migrate
Streams settings with 9.2.0.6
For best results, implement the following recommendations.
On multi-cpu machines, set the hidden init.ora parameter _kghdsidx_count=1.
For streams memory control, the hidden parameter, _first_spare_parameter,
allows DBAs to control the shared_pool memory threshold (%) at which the
Streams buffer queue will begin to spill-over to disk.
Recommendation: double the shared_pool_size and set the hidden init.ora
parameter _first_spare_parameter=50 (for 50% of the shared_pool_size parameter)
In addition , use the manual flow control scripts available on Metalink or
Note 259609.1
