In 9i, DBMS_STATS.ALTER_SCHEMA_TABLE_MONITORING could be used to enable or
disable the DML monitoring feature of all tables in the schema. This procedure is equivalent to
issuing CREATE (or ALTER) TABLE...MONITORING (or NOMONITORING) individually. In 10g,
the MONITORING and NOMONITORING keywords have been deprecated. The table-monitoring
feature is controlled by the STATISTICS_LEVEL parameter. When STATISTICS_LEVEL is set to
BASIC, monitoring of tables is disabled. When STATISTICS_LEVEL is set to TYPICAL or ALL, then
monitoring is enabled.
By default STATISTICS_LEVEL is set to TYPICAL. That is, monitoring of tables is enabled. It is
strongly recommended to keep STATISTICS_LEVEL set to TYPICAL. By setting this parameter to
BASIC, you disable most of the new manageability features, including
■ ASH (Active Session History)
■ AWR (Automatic Workload Repository)
■ ASSM (Automatic Shared Memory Management)
■ ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor)
